Wisconsin's Finance and Insurance sector is vital to our state's economic well-being and is key to its future. As of January 1, 2014, Wisconsin is the headquarters for 260 banks and thrifts, 170 credit unions, and 247 insurance companies.
The Finance and Insurance sector offers employees rewarding careers with good pay that will exist well into the future. This critical service sector provides endless opportunities for consumers and businesses. The Finance side helps consumers fulfill their dreams, while the insurance side helps to protect and preserve those important assets. Today, this sector has 123,876 employees directly working in these industries. [According to the Taxpayers Alliance, there are about 80,000 Wisconsinites employed in the insurance industry who earn an average salary of $61,549.]
